Naturist news from the Alentejo, Portugal, May 2009.
New facilities for 2009.
During the winter months, we have been busy creating additional facilities for our guests.
For self-caterers.
We now have a communal kitchen available for use by all guests to prepare their own meals if they wish, at no additional charge. We refurbished an old outbuilding next to our bread oven, which had previously been used as a chicken house. Some of the old oak roof timbers, which had been fitted in November 1947 (according to a pencilled inscription on one beam) were able to be salvaged and re-used, the rest were used as fuel for our log burning stove. Traditional tiles for the roof were salvaged from derelict pig sties and a former guest's monte renovation project nearby. Modern materials were used to fit out the interior, but not before the old features were covered up to protect them.
"Before - no roof, a quartz cobbled floor with stone and taipa walls." "After - ceramic tiled floor and walls."
For sun worshippers.
The deck has been extended at the poolside so that guests can sunbathe in closer proximity to the swimming pool. Then if they get too hot, a cooling dip is not so far away.
"Relaxing on the deck
and on the pool."
What the papers say.
On 18th April 2009, the Daily Mail in London published an extract from a book by Michael Simkins describing his travels in France. The extract was accompanied by a photograph creditted to Murray Sanders showing us playing boules "in a tournament at Cap d'Agde".
